Captain’s Log: IASFA Bundles Having canvassed the members over on the IASFA.org site, I think the most requested option is for book bundles. This will be exclusive for IASFA members and the sign up post will only be posted right here on the web page. We’ll do two different bundles.
Science Fiction – space opera/military sci-fi/space adventure/galactic conquest/First contact as those SF genres are doing well right now (not LitRPG or Horror – we’ll do a LitRPG bundle summer of 2021).
Fantasy – in the sub-genres of epic fantasy, sword & sorcery, and high fantasy (not UF and not dark fantasy – we’ll do a UF bundle summer 2021, don’t ask for details now, I don’t have them).
A story bundle is for full-length novels (at least 40k words under a single title). We use BookFunnel where we upload all the books, break them out into tiers (we can do one to three and charge differently by tier), and then everyone promotes these as well as we’ll run some Facebook ads to target genre-specific readers. It’ll be an equal split after BookFunnel takes their cut (15% plus PayPal fees).
The book can be previously and currently published and aren’t exclusive, which means you can keep it published while it’s in the bundle as long as it’s not in KU. NO Permafree as your readers aren’t incentivized to buy a book they got for free and no one else’s will either. The book cannot be in Kindle Unlimited for the three weeks that we would run the bundle.
You’ll be required to hit your list twice during the run as well as promote on social media. We’re indies – no one gets to sit back and do nothing besides vacuum up new readers and wait for royalties.
What is the selection process? I’ll put up a Wufoo form and we’ll take the top (not the first entries, but there will be a drop dead date to enter) 20-25 entries for each bundle, you’ll load up your own files at a link that I’ll give those selected to participate, including your blurb and a cover embedded in your epub & mobi files, and then we’ll launch.
Submissions will be due by Feb 14 (I’ll share the link later, but plan now) so we have time to evaluate them. Then on Monday, March 29th, 2021, the bundle will be live for three weeks – only during that time would your book nee to not be in KU. It can be in KU during the eval period. After that, you can put it back in KU if you want or whatever you need to do with it. Within a month after the run, BookFunnel will pay you your share directly via PayPal. If you can’t take payments by PayPal for whatever reason, I think BookFunnel has Payoneer as an alternate option. After that, the answer is it becomes too hard to do and we won’t be able to include your book. I’m sorry, this is a shared work effort and it’s not fair for one person to create an unreasonable amount of extra work.
