Louie is permanently worried that the fledgling community of the seven, now grown to just shy of twenty, will fail. He’s constantly pushing to explore more, to learn more, to discover about their world. But surviving takes time that they don’t have. Their farmer disappeared, presumed dead; the youngest member (8 years old) is teaching them self-defence and they are only safe as long as they remain hidden. They have homemade bows and arrows! Only Clara has lived on a planet before; theoretical knowledge doesn’t make up for real experiences. Their medical supplies are finished and their emergency food supplies are almost gone.
But when Louie thinks he’s got things sorted; got a workable plan, his world changes again. Can the community survive more people, more enemies, and unknown alien humans with their own agenda masquerading as friends? Pressure builds for every member of the community. Will the community survive its rapid expansion? Are their new allies there to truly help them? What will happen if the Jjazx find them? What is the personal cost for Louie and the others?
