The Five Planets

By K J Matthews

The Five Planets
Get This Book

A planet that’s hiding a secret. An ancient myth about to surface. And a settlement on the brink of fracture.

The planet should have been perfect for the refugees from the Samsara. No existing intelligent alien species, no predators, and no major climate impacts. The planet ticks all the boxes. But the grasslands grow unnaturally fast, the forests lack biodiversity, and there is a strange regularity to everything that cannot be explained by any rules of nature the settlers rely on.

Lilly used to dream of a teenage hood spent pushing boundaries and finding herself. Now, on Fibonacci, the planet her brother named, she is the center of the community. Everyone comes to her with problems, and she’s annoyingly good at finding solutions. And that, is a problem. Because when disaster strikes, Lilly is left in charge. And she makes a decision that she’ll regret for the rest of her days.

Bronwyn is under increasing pressure from within the community. The community want her to release the reins of leadership, but there isn’t yet a viable solution. What there is, is a strong sense of unease, too little information about Fibonacci and the other planets, and no other option than to make the community work somehow.

With growing conflict within the settlement, a planet that the settlers expect is more alien and harmful than they assumed, and a threat they cannot see, the refugees need to make a decision. Stay and fight the environment, or beg for assistance from one of the other planets? With under 100 Earthlings, any split will be devastating.

The Five Planets is the first book in the Across the Universe series, a series of family, survival, and hope, in a universe founded by a civilization so old that it has been turned to myths used to frighten children. If you love space adventure, family found and traditional, and thriving through adversity, then this is the book for you.
