I found Save the Cat Writes a Novel is a good resource for writing in general including blurbs. I have been practicing blurb writing for my work lately as well, as it is something I need to get better at doing.
What I have found helpful for writing blurbs is to read blurbs from books. I go to Amazon and click on some of my favorite authors and read their blurbs and look at their covers.

I find naming challenging as well sometimes. I try to stick with simple character names that I like. I also like looking at old Norse, Roman, and Greek names for ideas.
