Thanks guys. I think I’m still stuck in the mindset of “Baen requires this minimum word count, and Tor wants this range…” Some habits are hard to break. I currently have a 100k novel languishing in “we’ll respond in a year, no simultaneous subs” trad pub hell. The one I’m working on now will likely end up in the 120k-150k range, and I was playing with the idea of splitting it up into three shorter novels. Decisions! I like that indie gives you a lot more leeway in writing the novel as it needs to be rather than trying to puff it up to meet a minimum required word count.
